The Asthma Foundation of Queensland welcomes the financial assistance from the Queensland Government’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund which has provided a $21,804 grant as part of its June 2010 allocation. The grant will be used to purchase a motor vehicle for the Foundation’s Education and Training team. The Education and Training Team works with schools, aged care facilities, sporting and recreation clubs, and workplaces as part of the Asthma Management Program, ‘Community Support Program’ and the ‘Asthma Child and Adolescent Program’. The Foundation’s CEO Mark Brooke said, “The assistance of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund is welcomed particularly as we seek to enhance and resource our training and education programs to assist people to take control of their asthma. I would also acknowledge the support of Grace Grace the Member for Brisbane Central for her support in securing this grant.” The Foundation’s new corporate plan very clearly outlines that people with asthma and linked respiratory conditions are our number one organisational strategy. As part of our new grant strategy we want to ensure funds raised are directed towards service provision rather than replacement of capital thus a grant of this type is most welcome.
